Mediation is a voluntary, private way to settle
disputes through a cooperative, problem-solving process. It is an alternative to using
lawyers, which is often time consuming, difficult and expensive.

My name is Steve Natran. I am a Retired Social
Worker (Retired July 2009). I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
My practical experience as a mediator has been through the Civil
Claims Mediation Project that started in January of 1998. On September 1, 1999 the Civil
Claims Mediation Project became a permanent program of the Provincial Court, Civil
Division. Click to read more about the program.
As with my Social Work experience at the Misericordia Hospital from
1990 to 2009, I feel that I have expertise in numerous areas. They call us Generalists.
This means that by virtue of my years of expeience my initial consultation will tell me if
I feel that I have the capability to deal with a certain issue. If I feel that I do not
have the expertise required, I will not take on a Mediation. I will refer you on to a more
appropriate Mediator.
