University of Alberta Dance Club

As the largest dance group on campus with over 1700 active members yearly, the organization offers an extensive range of classes and activities. Regardless of your dancing ability, there is something in the club for you.

If you're interested in instruction, the club offers 10 classes each week for nine weeks per term, ranging from beginner to advanced (Newcomer to Silver).

Overall, the club teachs the 10 dances found in International Ballroom Syllabus, including Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, and Paso Doble.

Swing-Out Edmonton

Founded in September 2001 by Carl and Sandra Moller, Swing-Out Edmonton has been building a community of swing dancers. They are a non-profit, University of Alberta Student group that endeavours to encourage students, non-students, and people of all ages to join our community. They offer lessons, workshops, dances, and demonstrations in the city of Edmonton. All club executives and instructors work on a volunteer basis, simply out of love for the swing dances!

Sugar Swing Is...

Sugar Swing was founded by Birkley Wisniewski, a swing dancer, instructor, and key organizer. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, the swing dance club hosts dances and provides classes for the general public. The goal of Sugar Swing is to promote swing dancing, music, and history, and to build a community of people to share their love for dancing. Sugar Swing intends to appeal to anyone, whether they are 15 or 45. There are a few people in the world who are over 90 and still dancing Lindy Hop!
